Big thank you to those who returned their Camp Commitment forms to us last week. This makes our job organising easier.
ICT Agreements - please have these returned ASAP to help us get cracking deeper into our Units of Inquiry.
Students have been introduced to their new Mathletics accounts. WOW, some of them have really responded. This is pleasing to see. We like to aim for 1000 points per week. Some students smashed that by pulling in over 15000 points. Get amongst it people!

Cyber Safety
Many families at Immanuel have already read, seen or heard stories regarding the supposed Momo Challenge which was been reported in the media throughout last week. For those who are not aware, this supposed Momo Challenge is a cyberbullying trend where children receive anonymous threatening messages delivered by a frightening looking character. Recent ABC and BBC reports suggest that it is all a hoax without any credible evidence. These articles can be read on the following links-
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-03-01/momo-challenge-sparks-warning-from-online-safety-watchdog/10861080
https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-47393510
The Office of the eSafety Commissioner also confirmed it was yet to see ‘any actual content containing the ‘Momo’ character or challenge’.
Hoax or not, this is quite a disturbing story. This week in class, teachers will take the opportunity to revisit conversations about internet safety, and discuss what children should do if they stumble across any content that makes them feel unsafe / uncomfortable. We will approach the issue with caution and steer clear of using the Momo Challenge as a specific talking point. We encourage parents to keep a close eye on their children’s viewing habits at home and have conversations about internet safety as well with their children.
